The Unseen Work

Writer: Jacinta StringerJacinta Stringer

What is the "unseen work" in basketball culture?

Coaching helping teach technique

Late night workouts, the third, fourth and fifth training sessions of the day, early morning clubs before school and the midnight runs in the summertime, etc. It’s not all grand basketball games and tournaments. It’s the dedication and motivation to get up and practice every single day.

It’s the mental toll of thinking of plays, drills, and scheduling. It’s learning and watching games, and old tapes from previous games. It’s practicing skills until they are perfected, then researching more to learn.

While you are tired, hurt, and not 100% you, but because you love the game, and are unsatisfied with only being good. Your potential rises as you break out of the norm and enter into the unseen hours, not glorify or talked about but a necessity in the athlete's mind that they know I can do more and my body can do more. That's where legends are made. It's that relentless pursuit of greatness.

Be legendary!
